While it could be said that Stephanie teaches yoga, in fact her classes are more than that. Stephanie creates an environment of collegiality amongst students, through encouragement and support. She tailors the class according to the needs of students, role-modelling an approach to yoga that is holistic.

The values of yoga such as compassion, commitment, perseverance, loyalty, inclusiveness and respect for life in all its forms are reflected in the way she teaches and conducts the classes.

“Willpower is nothing but willingness to do. You have to ask yourself, using your intelligence and your willpower, can I do a little better than I am doing? Light comes to a person who extends awareness a little more than seems possible.” Sri B.K.S Iyengar, Light on Life.

Iyengar Yoga is an alignment-based practice. The use of props, chairs, blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps assist the student to refine the poses.

B.K.S Iyengar lived in Pune, India. He began teaching yoga at the age of 18 and taught and inspired students throughout the world until his death in 2014.

The practice of Iyengar yoga is a complete system for balancing the body, mind and spirit. Not only will you feel physically stronger but also mentally and emotionally more fulfilled. The mind becomes quiet and a sense of peace and stability eventually comes to the student who practices regularly.
